A fascinating look at how women won the War! A great day out for all ages.
The greatest factory on earth was built in World War One. It was called HM Factory Gretna and was nine miles long and two miles wide. It crossed the Anglo-Scottish border, employed 30,000 people, 12,000 of whom were women. The work done here was all top secret, it was difficult and dangerous but it helped turn the tide of the War. This amazing Museum shares the hidden history of both World Wars via audio visual displays, touchscreens and wonderful objects. Beloved of people of all ages there is so much to do including dressing up, children’s activities, a 1940s kitchen to explore and a changing programme of exhibitions and events throughout the year. Fully accessible with a lift and cafe, our reviews on Tripadvisor are great – come and visit us to find out why!
