In Summer see the Longest Interrupted Rose-Archway in Scotland, 11th-12th April enjoy Scotland’s National Daffodil Festival with food market, plant stalls, Q&A, talks, information, daffodils and spring flowers. During the season treat yourself to home baking, a barista coffee or freshly picked plants and produce from the Garden Café menu. Learn more about our connection with Charles Darwin and Mary Queen of Scots in the Heritage and Education Centre. A hidden Covenanter’s tomb awaits discovery. The restored Victorian glass house, colourful herbaceous borders, espaliered fruit trees, soft fruit cage, Parterre, formal pond, infants Bear Walk, family 9 hole putting green, grass labyrinth, fern & hosta borders offer tranquillity and peace in the garden and grounds. Plant Sales, artists cards and the Backhouse Pantry range offer a memento of your visit.
