Tentsmuir National Nature Reserve
Tentsmuir National Nature Reserve

Tentsmuir National Nature Reserve

The fastest growing part of Scotland with sand dunes and heath, excellent for wildflowers, an important roosting area for huge numbers of sea duck, waders and wildfowl. A good place to see seals.

A landscape that changes almost as you watch, Tentsmuir National Nature Reserve is managed by Scottish Natural Heritage. The Reserve displays a rich variety of nature from the constantly moving sand at the sea's edge to colourful dune heathland. Seals haul themselves out of the water to watch the world go by, hungry birds fill up on a rich mix of food in the mudflats whilst white-tailed sea eagles soar above. Inland you can discover the hidden gem of Morton Lochs and search for birds such as the shy teal and spot red squirrel. Information panels throughout the Reserve. Car park at Morton Lochs with easy to strenuous trails around the Lochs and four bird hides. FCS car park (£2 charge) at Kinshaldy with picnic facilities and trails.
