Strathy Bay

Strathy Bay

A delightful beach. It has a river at one side, great sand dunes, cliffs and rocks.

One of Sutherlands best beaches it is bounded by cliffs on one side and on the other by the River Strathy. It is particularly spectacular in late May early June when cowslips (rare in the north of Scotland), northern marsh orchids and the spring squill flower in the short turf just behind the beach and on the cliff tops. From the large car park and attractive log cabin information centre. It is a short walk down to the beach. It is signposted off the A836 at the top of the hill next to the church. Public Toilets.
