This most attractive stretch of shore has a series of sandy coves and the impressive Thirl Stane, a natural stone arch and a popular climbing site. There are great views from here across the Solway. A short walk north along the coast, at Abigland, is the cottage where John Paul Jones, founder of the United States navy was born.
